Leys Group Plays Through The Night To Raise Funds For The Archie Foundation
An Aberdeen-based charity has been given a welcome boost thanks to a group of dedicated employees who completed a 24-hour golf challenge, including playing through the night.
Inchmarlo Golf Centre near Banchory, hosted the Leys Group fundraiser for The Archie Foundation where employees, along with family members, took on the challenge of 24 hours of continuous golf at the centre’s driving range.
Playing round the clock, Leys Group, which includes The Bancon Group, Leys Estate and North Banchory Company, raised £1,645 for The Archie Foundation as part of their ongoing fundraising for the charity throughout the year.
The challenge saw volunteers signing up for hour-long slots, with many taking on more than one to ensure the event’s success. Some were joined by family members or friends, bringing the total number of participants to over 30.
By the end of the event, the group, which included both seasoned golfers and novices, had hit an impressive 7,500 golf balls.
David Smart, Leys Estate Group Chief Executive, said: “The idea behind the 24-hour golf challenge was not only to raise vital funds and awareness of The Archie Foundation’s crucial work but also to bring teams together across the Group. It gave our more experienced golfers the chance to mentor those who were new to the game or returning after a break.
“It also gave the team at Inchmarlo Golf Centre the opportunity to show how accessible golf can be as a sport and the enjoyment and fun the Toptracer Range technology can bring to all ages. The team at the Centre were incredibly supportive throughout, and there was a great atmosphere on the driving range, even in the early hours of the morning.”
Andrew Tweedie, Bancon Group CFO, added: “The commitment and enthusiasm of our team and their families in taking on this unique challenge was brilliant. Thanks to their dedication and the hard work of the organising committee, we’ve raised vital funds for The Archie Foundation, and we’re excited to continue our efforts throughout the year to make an even bigger impact.”
The Archie Foundation exists to transform experiences and outcomes in healthcare and bereavement for local babies, children and families.
